My name is Abby & DIY Kindle Cover

Good evening. My name is Abby, and I am a Pin-aholic.
I started using Pinterest in December 2011, and was only using it once or twice a day, and now I am on it constantly!! I have "pin all the things" syndrome, and lately it has evolved into "MAKE/try all the pins" syndrome as well, so I am here to chronicle my adventures in Pinterest-land and my evolution from a Wannabe Crafty Mommy to an honest to goodness Crafter!!!  So lets start with the very first craft I made that was inspired by something I pinned.

I was inspired to make my Kindle cover from this pin which led me to find this tutorial, in which they use a $155 address book as their hardcover base.  I used a well-thumbed copy of Pride and Prejudice following the basic instructions from the tutorial linked above.

I took the pages out, covered the inside of the book with heavy, blue cardstock, and attached a small pocket for the Kindle out of an old pair of blue jeans.  I glued everything together with a heavy duty CA glue, purchased from Woodcraft.  As an afterthought, I added a small note pad, and a loop of my recycled jeans for a pen so I can take notes, or write down new books/authors I want to look up later.
Here is my finished product:

Kindle covers retail for $15-50+ on Amazon.com, but I made my cover in my own crafting room out of products I had at home already.
Just a bit of friendly advice, if you're going to use a book you have at home, make sure your book isn't too thin to close over your Kindle, or other e-reader, and whatever extras you want to add.

That concludes our PA (Pinaholics Anon) meeting for this evening, thank you all for coming. :-)
